My father is from province of Aklan. We always go there for
vacation.Eventhough our ancestral place is not in Boracay, we always find some
time to go there and enjoy the bonding just for several days.
Here are some tips I can give:
1. Go to Boracay on off seasons. This is from month of June-October.
Ticket flights from Manila to Caticlan/Manila to Kalibo can just range from
1,000-2,000 pesos. There is a round trip of 2,500 also available at Zest Air
during the months I have given. Also night flights are also cheaper but I would
not recommend that.
- If you’re in a
hurry take a flight from Manila - Caticlan. It will be 20
minutes away from the Island of Boracay
- If you want to
enjoy the view and wait for 30-45 minutes travel time you can take Manila - Kalibo flight. Kalibo
is much further from Boracay itself and Kalibo is the capital of Aklan.
2. I recommend booking a flight to Zest air. Best
quality service compare with Cebu Pacific. There is always a compensation
package when their flights are delayed.PAL is out of the question. They are the
no. 1 in service.
3. When you get there in KALIBO
AIRPORT you can
have the option to ride on a bus or L3.
- L3 one way trip
to Boracay will cost you 150 pesos
- Bus fee is
somewhat like 200+
- I recommend you
to take the bus instead of the L3.You will know why this is recommended if
you try to ride in a L3 =)
4. If you want to save from Basic Grocery needs you can also buy
in Kalibo because it’s much cheaper there.
- From Kalibo
International Airport you can ask where you can ride a tricycle.
- After you have
found where the tricycle lane is, asks the driver to bring to "GAISANO".Gaisano is like
a mini mall version if you will compare it to malls here in Manila.

- Negotiate for
the price. When the drivers knew that you’re from Manila/abroad they
always tend to know that you have lots of Cash. Their price ranges from
150-200 just to get you in the Capital Proper. If you’re a group, you can
settle for 150 price. Anyway the Tricycle is big. It’s not like the
Tricycle here in Manila. It can hold up to 7 passengers.
- After you have
bought your grocery go outside Gaisano and ride another tricycle and tell
him to go to "Crossing
of Western Union near Metrobank".They know where it is.Don't worry
the fare would only be 7 pesos per person.
- When you get to
the Western Union, there is L3 lane for you to ride going to Boracay. Fare
price is from 150-200 pesos per person, depending on the driver.

5. There’s also some called "Coordinators”. I can
describe them as middle men for you and the Hotel and transport. You can see
this "Coordinators" in the airport and in the Jetty Port (the port
before going to the Island of Boracay).
- This
coordinator will take care of your lodging if you haven't book any and
your transportation to Boracay and transportation going to the Airport again.
You don't have to pay this "Coordinators”. Well it’s up to you
if you want to give some tips to them.
- You
will still pay your bills on the place where you will stay and the Driver
of your Transportation. They will just get a commission from the Hotel
itself/the driver.
- I
recommend you to get one of this in the Jetty Port if you haven't book any.
It would be hard to get lodging once you’re in Boracay and haven't
reserved anything.
- Also
if they ask you if it is your first time in Boracay just answer honestly.
Because if it is your first time the”Coordinators" will tell you
the DO's and DONT's, where to go and where not to go. Also they will also
tell some "pamahiin" or some "bad spells”. Example is when
someone gave you a drink, dont accept it because there is a saying there
that if you drink it there are chances that you will get sick and medical
remedies can’t cure you. Just some "Albolaryo" style of antidote
can cure you.
- Our family has
this contact coordinator that always takes care of all the things from
lodging to transportation so if you want one you can contact ME!
Well that's all I can give you. Feel free to post your questions.
